Bachelor’s Programs in Psychology Online

Psychology is a fascinating subject to many students. In 2000, approximately 75,000 college seniors in the U.S. graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Most of these students were not actually interested in careers as psychologists, but they saw training in psychology as excellent preparation for careers in business, education, law, and other areas requiring strong critical thinking skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to write well.

Some students earn a bachelor’s degree in psychology and then find work directly related to their major. For instance, they might work as data collectors, high school psychology teachers, probation officers, or assistants in adolescent rehabilitation centers. Generally speaking though, most better-paid jobs in psychology require earning at least a master’s degree. Of course, getting a bachelor’s degree is the first step.

The following schools offer accredited bachelor degree programs in psychology through distance learning.

Drexel University is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. The Bachelor of Arts in psychology program is entirely online; no campus visits are required. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and students can start classes year-round.

Northcentral University is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Every psychology student at Northcentral has the benefit of one-to-one mentoring, and students can start classes year-round. Up to 90 credits may be transferred from other regionally accredited schools.

They offer two bachelor’s degree programs in psychology online: the Bachelor of Arts in psychology program, which is for people planning to pursue a master’s degree or work in social services; and the Bachelor of Science in psychology program, which follows a business track with courses in human resources, management, leadership development, and marketing.
